Why only the UK has problems with EU rules:
The Belgians make the rules.
The French follow rules that suit; eg. Champagne & Camembert.
The Germans follow all the rules, but only in the German translation.
The rest know the rules exist but are too small to attend to them all.
Only the English actually follow all the rules.
